Run Windows Setup and it will ask you to partition your drive, follow the onscreen instructions to do so, it will say remove existing partition and then re partition it for Vista.

best thing to do is just pop in your win disc and boot from it. Then when the screen comes up to install windows and the fdisk shows your partitions DO NOT install . Instead select the partition C:\ and select Delete Partition. After deleting it by pressing C or L or whatever it is select Create Partition in Unpartitioned space. Then select Install Windows to the partition . Then format with NTFS which should already be selected.

Let win do it’s thing and your done.

By the way if you still would like to use something like Ubunto download Puppy Linux. burn it to a cd and it will install on the fly into memory ( very little memory required ) or you can install it to your drive . Does not require a partition of its own it runs just like any other program you install. Takes only a few minutes to install or just boot from disc and memory. You can take it with you and use it on anything. Even run it from a memory stick.
