How do I remove the tarnish and buildup on the chrome dash parts of a classic car?
I recently bought a 1969 Plymouth Barracuda, and the chrome bezels and edgings on the dash are tarnished and covered with some sort of build-up. What is the best way to clean them up and polish them?

Try baking soda. I think it works to polish silver why not chrome?

Use a “Blitz Cloth”. They are gentle tarnish removing and buffing cloths you can get at jewelry stores, jewelry counters in department stores and bigger hardware stores like Ace Hardware. Army/Navy surplus stores have been known to carry them as well.

You can use a “oo” grade of steel wool with some baking soda paste (make that by adding some water slowly to some baking soda powder until it turns into a consistency of toothpaste) or get a can or bottle of “Metal and Chrome Cleaner and Polish” Put it on let, it sit a little while to penetrate the dirty then, start elbowing it back to clean. On the dash chrome use a “hard” bristle toobrush or other cleaner brush so you don’t ruin the panel thats upholstered.
By the way, the ’69 Cuda is one of my favorite cars.

extra-super-duper-fine steel wool works great!
