chrome os79 I need some help with getting Vista Service Pack 1 on my computer?

So, recently I changed to Vista and so far everything was pretty good. On my old OS ( XP MCE ) Registry Mechanic found over 1,000 problems and on Vista — only 400. It’s pretty fast too although I have noticed that it kinda freezes when I’m running an install or something like that. Not too long ago I deleted IE8 because I thought it was a waste of space and my computer was already missing 70 gbs so I didn’t think it was worth it to keep on my computer. I deleted IE8 and a couple days later, I got frustrated with how slow FireFox and Chrome were opening up so I decided to go back to IE8. From what the website said, it looked like there were quite a few changes in IE. So anyway, I downloaded IE and while I was waiting for it to finish, I decided to install my software for my Blackberry. for some reason it failed and said something about Vista RSM or something like that. Then IE finished DL and I installed it and another error came up involving Vista RSM or whatever it’s called. The IE troubleshooting said to download some update, but the problem is, it’s not showing up in my Microsoft Update. It said that i needed SP1. so i downloaded SP1 from Microsoft website and it didn’t even want to open. another option they gave me was to download from Microsoft Update (different one, the website) but another problem arose. I NEED IE TO OPEN MICROSOFT UPDATE WEBSITE! so now i’m confused on what to do. should i just go on a different computer, download SP1 and put it on a disk or what?
