I need some help with getting Vista Service Pack 1 on my computer?

The IE troubleshooting said to download some update, but the problem is, it’s not showing up in my Microsoft Update. It said that i needed SP1. so i downloaded SP1 from Microsoft website and it didn’t even want to open. another option they gave me was to download from Microsoft Update (different one, the website) but another problem arose. I NEED IE TO OPEN MICROSOFT UPDATE WEBSITE! so now i’m confused on what to do. should i just go on a different computer, download SP1 and put it on a disk or what?

vista is on service pack 2 now, go to start computer, computer property, security, upgrade windows should take over.
actually go to start, computer, system property’s, install updates, windows should take over
