ubuntu99 How long should it take to burn ubuntu onto a cd?
Brian H asked:

Im burning ubuntu onto a cd and its taking forever it burned all the way to 53% but then it hasn’t gotten any farther than that. It says its still burning and the little light on my cd drive is flashing like its burning. Im burning onto a regular CD, could that be the problem?

when it does that it means something went wrong. you have to shut down your PC, start it again, and use another CD.
Burn it with 16x speed, and use a good CD, like Sony or TDK.

It should take about 10 minutes

what program you use to burn? Try imgburn

with the given info all i can say is probably the file is corrupted or there’s something wrong with your blank CDs or CD burner.

It only takes a couple minutes burin’ @ 8x

it’s not a problem unless the image is over 700mb (or 650 if that is the capacity on your cd-r)

there might be some dust or something in your cdrom, do you get the same problem when burning other cd’s?
you can try with another cd burner if you have.

it might also be a corrupted image, perhaps the download didn’t complete?

you can also use a program called unetbootin to make a bootable memory stick or flash disk or external hdd or whatever ;)

I also recommend the Unetbootin program and using an empty USB memory stick with it (you can use a basic 2 GB memory stick for this).

Works nicely for me!
