How do I go about adding another OS (want to add XP pro to.) currently on VIsta 64bit?
Ok, I have a brand new series 7 bad a** HP notebook computer. Games run great, everything seems great but……vista 64 bit is just not very compatible. I use Firefox and Google chrome, both are horrible under vista 64bit.
Ok the ???? I have a copy of XP profressional I bought through college for a good deal and would like to add it to my computer so i can have 2 OS. first of all is it safe? 2nd is it going to be ok with my 64bit computer? 3rd my hard drive is 320 gigs. How much would i have to partition for it run @ optimal levels. help me, i’m probably a begginer to intermediate computer user and don’t wanna ruin my 1st ever new computer I’ve ever bought (although I did get this dv7 series for 400 (maybe hot) instead of 1199 that is how much it is on HPs site when i customized it to exact specs)
OK….my notebook has Vista home 64bit, and i want to add XP pro
MY computer is a DV7 HP. It does NOT have windows 7 on it. read the ? I want to add XP pro to a pc with Vista home 64bit on it. NO WINDOWS 7!

Yes, you can add XP – you’ll need to partition your hard drive though, as otherwise it’ll simply overwrite Vista (which is obviously not what you’re after). Here’s a walkthrough:

I don’t think you can install xp after you have installed vista.. You have to go the other way round… that is, first install xp, and then vista.. For that you have to format the whole hard drive and repartition it. I don’t recommend that, as you are a new user.
thank you.

it’s simple just install xp in another hard disk drive. if you have only 1 drive then format your notebook and creat 2 drives.
and enjoy both OS.
i can tell u a name of a software, with the help of it you r able to install 4 OS at the same time.

I can’t understand why you want to install a dead OS since you have 2 brand new and powerful operating systems installed already. You can’t install XP now without damaging the Vista and 7 boot entry. It makes no sense for the computer to install something older than you have. I use Vista 64 for over 2 years without any problems. What are your compatibility issues?
