There is a product called neva-dull. and another called mothers. It's a long stip of cotton soaked in some chemical. You just tear a lil piece off and rub it on there. It will turn completly balck. Then you take a clean dry rag and wipe the black right off to reveal that new shine.

FWIW You have a bigger issues underlying here- you should not have any exhaust residue on your chrome and aluminum parts IF your bike is running correctly- sounds like it's too rich and wasting fuel! time for a tune up!!

to answer the question- Simple Green is probably the best, most versatile and safest cleaner to use.

I agree with the degreaser and brake cleaner.
The degreaser has to be hosed off with water, after it does "it's thing".
The brake cleaner won't cause any rust (as water will), and it works instantly.
Just wipe the goo off with a rag.
The degreaser has to sit on the parts for a few minutes.

Simple Green and a brush for the tire, Simple green and a soft cloth for the chrome. Undiluted dish washing liquid works great for the tough stuff. Windex for quick clean up. Make sure the bike is cool and remember to get everything rinsed off well especially the back tire. A little wax now helps get the junk off the next time. Take an MSF course and have a great ride.

Win-Dex works great, you cannot use another brand for some reason.--Also Auto Zone has a "Etched wheel cleaner that works awesome too. just be sure to wash the residue off really well and a little polish will help to, it wont stick as much for the next time you clean it.

Brake cleaner works well too. You can pick a can up at Big Lots for 88 cents.

If the spray on cleaners don't work try wax. That often works. Also try metal polish. Make sure it's safe for aluminum.

Go to your nearest auto parts store and buy a can of foaming degreaser. Spray it on your bike and let it work its majic, then rinse of with a strong stream of water.
