It's a long stip of cotton soaked in some chemical. You just tear a lil piece off and rub it on there. It will turn completly balck. The degreaser has to be hosed off with water, after it does "it's thing". The brake cleaner won't cause any rust (as water will), and it works instantly. Just wipe the goo off with a rag. The degreaser has to sit on the parts for a few minutes. I agree with the degreaser and brake cleaner.

Undiluted dish washing liquid works great for the tough stuff. Windex for quick clean up. Make sure the bike is cool and remember to get everything rinsed off well especially the back tire. A little wax now helps get the junk off the next time. Take an MSF course and have a great ride. Simple Green and a brush for the tire, Simple green and a soft cloth for the chrome.
