Internet help, this is driving me nuts?
My internet recently just decreased quite a bit in speed, even with a fast web browser. Does anyone have anything i could do to fix it, or speed it up a little bit, preferably without additional software? Im familiar and good at editing the registry if i need to (: Details:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
ISP: Tiscali, UK
Default Browser: Google Chrome
Router: Netgear RangeMax DG834PN [ADSL]
My computer doesnt have any stuff on it to slow it down and affect it’s performance, i always do lots of in depth tests to keep it with ample free space and it always runs at the speed of lightning, it’s just the internet :L thanks for the tip though. I do think the person who said about watching the videos may be right, i have watched a lot of videos on youtube and now it’s gone down hill.

Sometimes, if you’ve been listening to downloads (YouTube, etc.), it could be that your ISP has downgraded your speed temporarily. It’s to do with the new copyright laws that have come in recently. Best bet is to re-boot. This is the speed test link -

I’d get onto your provider first and complain to them about the decrease in speed.

Try and delete some thing you don’t need, they may be taking up some memory – slowing down your computer.

Go to and run the speed test there. Evenings are slower on the net as the nature of broadband means up to 50 people can share the same connection in the exchange.
