Problem with internet?

I’m experiencing a very annoying problem with my connectivity when I usually upload a video to youtube. Half way through the upload it sometimes randomly fails. Not only this but for some reason my internet connection all together may stop working too. I still have a connection in the system tray, but I can’t not actually use the internet. Sometimes Windows tells me in this situation that I have limited connectivity.
I have experienced the problem with both Firefox & Chrome, and at home and at university (high speed 40mbps up). So it has to be something to do with my PC or Windows more specifically.
