In response to the swine flu,why hasnt all air travel been stopped?
since the swine flu has been confirmed in 5 u.s states, and the u.s has declared a state of health emergancy, why is all travel continuing?whats your opinion on this? in my opinion the smart thing to do would be to stop all travel out of the infected states
i understand its not deadly but why let it spread through out the u.s when they can just stop travel out of the infected states. california,ny,texas etc.

I have booked a trip to Italy next month… and I’m afraid of air travel stopping!!!
P.S. – I live in Ohio too… we have one case here!

no deaths; expectation is that it can be contained and managed

Since no one in the US is dying of swine flu and everyone here seems to be making full recoveries, it doesn’t warrant everything coming to a screeching halt.
*Edit: What do you think would happen if you halted all commerce and travel from just California and Texas? That would be just great for an already floundering economy and the transportation of flu medicines and antivirals.

Simply put, because it’s not considered a threat in the United States. Every single case of confirmed swine flu in the U.S. has resulted with the patient making a full recovery. And, that’s a positive thing for a new disease. When people make full recoveries it gives us anti-bodies. With people of varying blood types making full recoveries it’s very simple to make anti-bodies.
The swine flu is a threat in Mexico because they don’t have easy access to clean water or modern medicine. The symptoms of the disease are often exacerbated by inhaling fumes from human feces. Take into consideration, also, the lack of ability to get a doctor in Mexico, and you’ve got the answer for all the mass hysteria and deaths there.

Because people are still sneaking across borders….so what’s the point of stopping air travel…?

Stop air travel because 22 people have died from this? We better close all the hospitals in the world too because of all the hospital-caught staph infections that kill people.

they gave people masks and whoever is sick is trusted to just not spread the flu to others and go to the doctor
