swine flu204 How can I tell if I HAD the swine flu?
Signilda asked:

Just a week and half ago, I came down with the same symptoms that are reported in the swine flu: fever, cough, sore throat, etc. I am over it now, except for dry cough. Can I still go to the doctor to see if indeed it was this swine flu??? Will any trace of the virus still be in my system? I am worried that my family may be still be at risk. Am I being a paranoid alarmist???

Well the swine flu almost seems like its gone…but then you get a dry cough then your organs start shutting down.

yes its possible you’re being a paranoid alarmist.

Also – most cases of swine flu in the US have been milder than those in Mexico. No one in the US has died so far. Do not panic.

And from what I can tell, since no one in the US has died from swine flu so far, the symptoms are not different from those of regular flu.

you probably just had normal flu.

Well you describe mild flu symptoms, which is what they say the swine flu has produced in the US. So you didn’t die. You weren’t close to dying. Do you think anybody you know would die from what you had? No, they cannot tell if you had it and now it’s gone. But most people who get it are just not going to get very sick so no need for alarm. If you don’t have AIDS or something and live in the US or some other developed country, you are very unlikely to have any major problems.

Have you been to Mexico in the past couple of weeks? If not, then it was probably NOT the swine flu, but if you’re really concerned go see your doc.

No I don’t think you are. I live in San Diego County close to the Mexican border. I have 2 kids and I am scared to send them to school. We are all sick right now with the same symptoms, but I am getting better, but my son is not and it just started with my daughter. They check by a sputum test. Also some people get more severe cases than others.

yep u are maybe right? but there must not be 2 many worries. The swine flu is real, we have to be cautious. But don’t overalarm guys. I am mexican and I get sick with flu all the time but been able to control it easily with proper cautions please review my comment by looking up the question “Are we all gonna die of pig flu?” asked by “Justme” look for “Rastime”‘s comment thanks
