ClamWin and Moon Secure AntiVirus are both released under the GPL license.

I keep hearing good things about Avast and they have a free version just like AVG.

EDIT: I’ve also heard good things about ClamWin as well.

AVG is losing out to its competitors since the release of V8, which is slower, less functional and less effective.

Use Avast anti-virus which better definitions, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit built in, faster and more reliable:

Yep, i also had several problems with my computer being really slow.
Turned out there was some dangerous trojan stalling it and reading my data.
But you can try this software that helped me and
removed the trojan so now I don’t have anymore problems.. Just a little
advice

You might like Avira Free Edition. Go to and download it from the antivirus category.
